Keeping it brief.

http://theblogofsonja.blogspot.com/
Before I start, Blogger has officially cut me off due to space restraints so I'll need to be getting a new blog. I'll have something shiny and new for February 2011. Sort of a bummer of a last post but here it is nonetheless!!

I've been overwhelmed lately.
Jeremiah and I have been fighting all day and it all started because I lost one of my favorite earrings from one of my favorite friends.  And I just found said earring.
We somewhat made up over making some spaghetti and garlic bread.  Jeremiah cleaned the whole kitchen.
I'm working on a photo project which has everything to do with shoes.
I'm trying to save all my money for Europe.  I'll feel more productive in the evenings when I begin to learn French.
My classes started.  One is Creative Writing II.
Another History.  Blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh.
Another Composition and then Speech as well.
I need to fold the black laundry now.
Happy Sunday.
Here are some pictures from Halloween:

Ah, the sweet smell...

Ah, the sweet smell of horse, hay, and dung.  Jeremiah and I went to the stock show tonight with Spencer, Mark, and Ciara (sp?) to watch the show jumping grand prix.  Twas great!!  Spencer's mum always hooks us up with "backstage passes" and we ate, drank and schmoozed with all of Spencer's old crowd and horses.  Huge horses.  With heads as big as my torso.  In case you're interested, the jumpin' horses are much larger and thicker than Kentucky Derby horses.  The Derby horses are all muscle like the horses tonight but much more lean, obviously more efficient for running.  The ranch horses are all somewhat rotund in comparison and nappy headed but just as lovable nonetheless.  Maybe even more so.  I just love em all.

Speaking of horses.  I had a little incident at the ranch with a feisty redhead named Fireball yesterday.  Jethro, Sima, and I had a relaxing ride in the morning and I was riding Fireball so Sima could ride Sherman.  I was feeling really good, despite having never ridden Fireball.  Horses have a pecking order much like other species (chickens, wolves, etc.) and Fireball is the leader of the horses at the ranch.  Even walking, she's extremely excitable and almost hops in place from her pent up energy.  Jethro and I had decided to take the horses for another go to work on galloping and everything was simply lovely.  Absolutely exhilarating, in fact!!  There is nothing like taking off on a horse and feeling the fear and excitement of being in control but not at the same time.  Anyway, to make a long story short, we were galloping through a pasture and slowing down into a canter/lope.  I had bent down to dodge some trees and my foot came out of the stirrup while Fireball was doing some of her hoppin action.  The next thing I knew, I was tuckin and rollin sideways off the horse smack into the ground.  I knocked my noggin pretty good but everything else was fine.  I waited for Jethro to catch up to me, celebrated being alive, and then got back on Fireball and rode home.  SUCH A COOL, CRAZY, NECESSARY EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But next time I think I'll stay on the horse.

Pictures coming soon.  I've been a bit lazy this month.  Sorry.

THINGS TO BE EXCITED ABOUT!!!!!!

1.  My school schedule is absolutely bangin'.  Fridays off and everything!
2.  I quit my job.  Which is very big news.  I wanted to open up my time for school and as it turns out, I'll also have more time for...
3.  EUROPE.  THIS SUMMER.  FOR SIX WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!
4.  Jeremiah was getting his teeth cleaned today and his dentist told him if he quit smoking in 5 weeks his dentist would bleach his teeth for free.  Quitting smoking has been a long time coming and I couldn't be more THRILLED!!!!  Wonderful news.  I know Jeremiah can do it.
5.  I get to see Jeremiah's whole entire family this weekend.  Jaime, Terry, Cailyn, Eli, Jethro, Sima, Knox, Jeff and Debbie.  YES!!!!!!!!!  Oh my gosh, I might even ride a horse!
6.  We are going to the stock show on Monday to hang out with Spencer and crew behind the scenes for the Grand Prix Horse Jumpin' competition.  Horses everywhere.  Animals everywhere.  There's even art at the stock show.
7.  We just ate Chinese food whilst watching the Nuggets whomp on the Heat.  Nice evening.
8.  Jeremiah's new band kicks major ass and he's having so much fun.  Everyone in the band is so very agreeable.
9.  I saw Eva twice in a row last week!  Going with her and Spencer to the art museum soon.
10.  I got to see Mike, Addy, and Westy for a late Christmas this week and I'm very happy to see everyone in such good shape.
11.  My 23rd birthday is coming up.  I don't want to be 23 but I do want to go SKIING!  So, I'll do that.
CYA LATER.

Frands...

I've got two lovely friends here visiting from Iowa and I'M HAVING THE BEST TIME!! Let me show you some of the things we've done so far.
Hmm... okay, let me explain.  We searched my neighborhood high and low and finally made it home with some wine but I soon remembered I don't have a corkscrew.  We had to get creative.  This was after a night with Spencer, Emma, Tommy and Russ at BarBar so we needed some downtime.
The end result.  SUCCESS.
Last night we drove to Boulder to have dinner with Tommy and then headed over to Scruffy Murphy's for Patrick's weekly pub quiz.  Shot the shit with Tommy, Spencer, and the hilarious Rennie for hours.  My friends Meredith and Emily.
 Tommy and Meredith.
 Look that way.
 Rennie.
We are now wining, puzzling and listening to Jeremiah's new band!!!

2011...

I've got post Iowa blues.  I had an amazing time there.  But.  I'm looking forward to 2011 in Denver.  January in itself is going to be outrageously busy.  I've got Meredith and Emily coming to visit for a whole week starting tomorrow.  The stock show is the weekend following.  Jeremiah's family will be in town at some point for a second go at Christmas.  I will be starting my second semester of school in COLORADO.  Full time, this time.  And I've decided to think up some resolutions for 2011.  Here they are!
1. Start exercising.  I've lost an incredible amount of weight and I feel like I've been cheating myself for not taking advantage and being my best self.
2. Be more self-reliant.  I've got a wonderful boyfriend who is far too nice to me and I've let myself grow too dependent.  If I had a nickel for every time I ask Jeremiah a question in a day.  Being back in Iowa made me realize I want to feel like my own person again.  Make things happen for myself.
3. Sack-up and ride a damn horse.  I'm tired of being afraid while riding, I'm tired of being timid.  Riding horses isn't that hard if you do it right.  So, that's what I'll do.
4. Join a choir.  I love to sing.  I sing all the time.  There are choirs all over Denver.
5. Make more friends.  I feel better when I'm around more people.  I will make the effort.
6. Climb more, hike more.
7. Decide what to do.  Do what I love.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAM...

The Denver Art Museum never fails to inspire.
Detail of Andy Warhol piece.
Mike and Addy were along for the ride.
 The Hamilton Building.
 The red, the blue.
I didn't like this at first.  But it's so big.  So many details.  Who are the little people?  Who are the large ones?
 Detail.
 For scale.
Look at index card on right for scale.
A whole room of roads, veins.
 The nucleus in a nook.
